What is acupuncture?Acupuncture originated over 3,000 years ago. The ancient Chinese began to study how energy travels through the body and how, by stimulating certain points, health can be improved. Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body to elicit your body's own healing potential.
-
Is acupuncture painful?About 30 acupuncture needles fit into a hypodermic needle that is used to draw blood. The needles are extremely thin. You may feel a slight sensation at the needle site once inserted but there should be no discomfort during the treatment.
-
Does insurance cover acupuncture? We are in-network with PacificSource, Humana and BCBSMT. Please contact us if you would like to bill insurance. Accepted payment forms include HSA.

I've had dry needling, is it the same as acupuncture?Dry needling is a technique used to release a muscle from a contracted state. Acupuncture treats the entire system for your body to heal from musculoskeletal issues in addition to specific muscle releasing techniques. This complete approach will reduce inflammation, increase circulation and address the root cause of the musculoskeletal issues.

How many treatments will I need?Usually one treatment a week is needed to start. This all depends on the nature of the disorder and how long the patient has experienced it. Some people respond at a faster rate than others. Often, acute conditions respond much faster; while chronic issues may take several weeks or longer. The patient's lifestyle, diet, optimism and participation will greatly impact the treatment outcome. For this reason, a holistic approach is taken in order for you to get the best outcome.
-
What should I expect during a treatment?A review of your health history and current health concerns will be discussed. Visual inspection of the tongue and reading of wrist pulses will be made. According to the diagnosis, needles will be placed along certain acupuncture points. The needles are left in place for about 20 minutes. Adjunct therapies may be used as well. Many people nap or become very relaxed during the treatment.
